GARLABAN

The majestic Garlaban rock (714 m) dominates the town ofAubagne and the Huveaune valley. It was once a landmark for the Phoenicians sailing into the bay of Marseille.

But if Garlaban has become famous, it’s thanks to Marcel Pagnol, who featured it in his works. Garlaban is also a mountain range, whose many caves were home to sedentary tribes who lived by hunting in the great forests that covered it, and perhaps also by fishing, as its large valleys may well have been tributaries of the Huveaune.
