The Louis Sicard earthenware factory is the oldest in Aubagne. Its founder, Louis Sicard (1871-1946), marked the history of Aubagne ceramics by creating the first earthenware Cicada in 1895, earning him the nickname "Father of the Cicadas".
Since 1972, the Amy family (Santons Sylvette Amy since 1966) has been perpetuating Louis Sicard's know-how, preserving historic creations and developing new collections of Cigales and Art de la Table.
Today, the Cigale en Faïence is more than a souvenir of Provence. It is the symbol of a heritage and is traditionally offered as a good luck charm, and since the creation of La Cigale Evocation, the earthenware cicada has become a design object.
