Faïences Louis Sicard

Shops, Art craftsmen, Ceramist in Aubagne
  • The Louis Sicard earthenware factory is the oldest in Aubagne. Its founder, Louis Sicard (1871-1946), marked the history of Aubagne ceramics by creating the first earthenware Cicada in 1895, earning him the nickname "Father of the Cicadas".

  • Since 1972, the Amy family (Santons Sylvette Amy since 1966) has been perpetuating Louis Sicard's know-how, preserving historic creations and developing new collections of Cigales and Art de la Table.
Today, the Cigale en Faïence is more than a souvenir of Provence. It is the symbol of a heritage and is traditionally offered as a good luck charm, and since the creation of La Cigale Evocation, the earthenware cicada has become a design object.
