A market dedicated to the art of working with clay

For several decades, Aubagne has been bringing its history with clay to life through its ceramics and santon-making markets. Every summer, this craft fair invites visitors to discover the work of professionals who shape clay using techniques passed down from generation to generation, whilst also making room for contemporary creativity.

Set up along the Cours Foch, the artisans showcase their latest creations and are happy to share their passion with the public. It is an opportunity to unearth a unique piece, chat directly with the creators and gain a better understanding of the various trades within the clay industry.

This year, nine artisans represent the full richness of Aubagne’s traditional craftsmanship:

  • Provençal santons and nativity scenes;
  • functional and decorative ceramics;
  • traditional earthenware;
  • ceramic jewellery;
  • contemporary terracotta creations.

A market that celebrates a heritage of craftsmanship deeply rooted in the identity of Aubagne and Provence.

Meet the exhibiting craftspeople

The market brings together nine workshops representing the arts of pottery and santon-making. Their diversity allows visitors to discover all the facets of pottery: tableware, decorative items, jewellery, santons, Provençal nativity scenes and even reimagined everyday objects. Each stall is an invitation to meet the craftspeople, discover their techniques and leave with a locally made creation.
