A festive summer in the heart of Provence

Throughout the summer, the twelve municipalities of the Pays d’Aubagne et de l’Étoile come alive with concerts, night markets, exhibitions, guided tours, cultural events and family-friendly activities.

Whether you’re on holiday in Provence, spending a weekend around Marseille or a local resident, the 2026 summer programme offers you countless opportunities to get out and about, explore and share some great times.

The must-haves for summer 2026

Open-air cinema under the stars

There’s nothing more enjoyable than an open-air cinema screening on a balmy summer’s evening. Once again this year, several towns are hosting free screenings in stunning settings.

From Provençal cinema classics to recent hits, screenings will take place in Aubagne, Roquevaire, Saint-Savournin, La Destrousse, Belcodène, Cadolive, La Penne-sur-Huveaune and Saint-Zacharie. A wonderful opportunity to experience cinema in a different way, with family or friends.

Free DJ nights to dance the summer away

The summer will also be all about partying, with several major free DJ nights organised across the region.

Fans of hits from the 80s, 90s, 2000s and today’s chart-toppers can come together for festive events in Aubagne and Auriol. A friendly atmosphere, an open-air dance floor and a great vibe are on the agenda for these unmissable summer evenings.

Craft and night markets

Every week, craft and night markets invite you to stroll through the streets and squares of the region.

Designers, craftspeople, local producers, jewellery, homeware, gourmet products and Provençal craftsmanship all come together in Aubagne, as well as in several villages across the Pays d’Aubagne et de l’Étoile.

A great way to discoverlocal crafts whilst enjoyingthe summery atmosphere of Provençal evenings.

A big free concert in Aubagne

One of the highlights of the summer will undoubtedly be the big free concert held on the Esplanade De Gaulle in Aubagne on Friday 21 August at 9pm.

This exceptional, eagerly awaited event will bring together several thousand spectators for a festive and convivial evening in the heart of the town. Whilst the artist’s identity remains a secret for now, their name will be revealed very soon. An announcement that already promises to generate excitement and make this eventone of the summer’s major highlights. Be sure to stay tuned to discover this musical surprise and mark the date in your summer diary.

Village festivals, parades and Provençal traditions

It is impossible to talk about summer in Provence without mentioning the village festivals.

Throughout the season, the region’s towns and villages celebrate their traditions with votive festivals, funfairs, parades, processions in Provençal costume, musical entertainment, village dances and free shows.

Auriol, Roquevaire, Cuges-les-Pins, Saint-Zacharie, La Bouilladisse, Aubagne and even the hamlet of Beaudinard keep alive this Provençal way of life that gives the Pays d’Aubagne et de l’Étoile its charm.

The major summer festivals

Les Nuits Flamencas

A major cultural event in the region, Les Nuits Flamencas returns from 1 to 5 July with several days of shows, concerts, introductory sessions, meetings and activities centred around the world of flamenco.

In a warm and festive atmosphere, international artists, dancers and musicians will take over Aubagne to showcase Andalusian culture in the heart of Provence.

Festimôme: the family’s favourite festival

Every summer, Festimôme transforms Parc Jean Moulin into a huge playground and discovery zone.

From 23 to 26 July, live shows, circus acts, theatre, music, creative workshops and non-stop entertainment ensure that both children and parents enjoy an unforgettable weekend.

Our activities and tours throughout the summer

As well as events, the Pays d’Aubagne et de l’Étoile Tourist Office offers a wide range of activities and tours throughout the summer, allowing you to explore the region. Guided walks in the footsteps of Marcel Pagnol, hikes in the Garlaban hills, workshops and tours focusing on pottery, family-friendly experiences and outdoor activities: there’s something for everyone. These activities are available throughout the season and are the perfect way to round off your summer plans.
