Nordic walking has become increasingly popular in France and Europe in recent years. Thanks to its accessibility for all levels, from beginners to experienced sportsmen and women, and its many health benefits, Nordic walking is on a roll!

Nordic walking in Aubagne

Nordic walking has a special place in the Pays d’Aubagne et de l’Étoile. Our region offers a number of year-round trails, suitable for all levels.

Around Aubagne, you’ll find a wide variety of landscapes, from the garrigue scented with thyme and rosemary around Garlaban, to the mysterious forests of the Sainte-Baume massif and the luminous panoramas of Provence. The destination becomes a playground for amateurs and experts alike!

Practical advice

Nordic walking can be done all year round and in all seasons, but it is best done from September to June. During the summer, set off early in the morning or at the end of the day and check theaccess to the surroundingmassifs. Don’t forget your water and your walking sticks! And don’t forget to check the weather forecast.

Nordic walking holidays in the region

To take things even further, Nordic walking holidays are available throughout the region, ranging from adventure weekends to group packages supervised by qualified guides.

These trips often include discovery of the emblematic Garlaban and Sainte-Baume trails, accommodation, support and sometimes picnics in the great outdoors. It’s an ideal way to combine sport, conviviality and discovery of the Provencal countryside in a group.

The Aubagnaise race

An event not to be missed

Every year, theUnion Athlétique de la Vallée de l’Huveaune (UAVH) organises the Aubagnaise, a popular annual event combining sport, conviviality and personal challenge in the heart of Aubagne. The event, which is both sporting and friendly, attracts an average of 200 participants, appealing to both amateurs and seasoned athletes thanks to its varied and accessible format. There are three events to suit all tastes:

  • The ‘leisure’ walk (5 km), La Pitchounette – No time limit – Free.
  • The ‘open’ walk (7.5km), La nordique des Espillères.
  • The Aubagnaise (12.50km).

The Aubagnaise is a national race, part of the Challenge Marche Nordique Tour 2026 and the Challenge Marche Nordique Région SUD.
