The parks

Green spaces for relaxation and leisure

Pays d’Aubagne’s parks are living spaces in their own right, designed to cater for all tastes. Easily accessible, they allow you to enjoy nature without leaving the city. People come here for a leisurely stroll, to play with their children, to enjoy a picnic in the shade or to take part in an outdoor sports session. The parks combine landscaping and leisure facilities in a friendly, natural setting. They are ideal meeting places for residents and visitors alike.

Parks in the centre of Aubagne :

  • Parc Jean Moulin: has 3 children’s play areas, a fitness area, picnic tables and a water point.
  • Parc Jourdan : has a green space, a mini stadium, a children’s play area and picnic tables: take a look.
  • Parc en Ciel: a children’s paradise with play equipment, climbing, table tennis and a fitness trail.
  • Parc de l’Huveaune: lovers of the river and biodiversity will love this recently renovated park. It has observation pontoons.

The Pays d’Aubagne’s communal forests offer a total immersion in Provençal nature. Stretches of woodland, hills scented with pine and garrigue, paths winding between rocks and valleys: these natural areas are an invitation to slow down, breathe and explore. Whether you’re going for a short, shady stroll, a more challenging hike or a family outing, there’s something for everyone. These forests are also living places, rich in biodiversity, where you can come across birds, insects and landscapes typical of the south of France. As the green lungs of the region, they are a great place to recharge your batteries while respecting the environment.

Communal forests and green spaces to discover

  • Domaine de la Font de Mai this vast estate in Aubagne is a gateway to the hills of Pagnol and a multitude of walks. If you just want to explore the park, you can go for a stroll or simply relax here. With its large expanse of greenery, interpretation trail and refreshment room, this peaceful spot is an invitation to recharge your batteries. Donkey rides are also available.
  • Parc naturel de la Coueste, with the Bois de l’Espalère. This nature reserve in Aubagne is located in the forest. Here you can stroll along the botanical trail, go jogging, hiking, mountain biking and orienteering.
  • Forêt communale d’Auriol – secteur des Encanaux: this forest is unusual in that it has a spring. It is also a great place for hiking.
  • Cuges-les-Pins municipal forest with the Chapelle Saint-Antoine site. Several walks can be made from this green setting overlooking the town.
  • La Penne-sur-Huveaune municipal forest
  • Saint-Zacharie municipal forest(sources de Nayes). This mystical spot is ideal for a number of hikes in a calm, relaxing environment. Picnic tables and the river that runs alongside the forest invite you to meet up and enjoy some family time.

More intimate, the public gardens of Pays d’Aubagne et de l’Étoile offer a real interlude. These green spaces, often nestled in the heart of neighbourhoods, are perfect for a natural break from everyday life. From 1 June to 30 September, access to forest areas is regulated by prefectoral decree and may also be regulated by municipal decree.
Make sure you are well informed during this period before visiting natural areas.
