La Penne-sur-Huveaune is located on an old Roman way (N8), between Marseilles and Aubagne.
la commune bénéficie d’un riche patrimoine bâti

The major assets of its heritage are :

Le Pennelus

The Pennelus, hollow pyramid-shaped mausoleum built during the 1st century, in which two marble sarcophagi were found. The Pennelus was probably inbuilt with the castle of Candolle at the end of the 12th century.

The Pennelus (or Penelle), listed as historical monument, is a witness of the long history of La Penne-sur-Huveaune, whose name appeared in 1212 in the archives of the St.Victor abbey. In the old center, close to the roman monument, you can also discover the church with its stained-glass windows, whose construction began in 1711.
