The Foreign Legion

Aubagne has been home to the 1st Foreign Legion Regiment since 1962, following the Evian Agreements.
The Viénot quarter, commonly known as the “mother house”, is now home to the Légion Étrangère’s music and museum. Every year, numerous events are organised within these walls, including concerts, parades, exhibitions and the commemoration of the Battle of Camerone.

Camp de la demande

Formerly known as Camp de la demande, the Quartier Viénot is now home to the 1st Foreign Regiment.

It’s a place where recruits begin their training, and where the Légion Étrangère Band rehearses its scales before performing its wonders. Visit the Foreign Legion Museum to find out more about this famous elite corps of the French army.
